‘If I could watch any player, it would be hot’ – Calvert-Lewin says England’s teammate “acts on a different level”

The Everton striker was delighted by the unique talents of the Aston Villa star during the international break in October

Dominic Calvert-Lewin described Jack Grealish as his favorite player to watch, while claiming that his England teammate “acts on a different level” than his peers.

Calvert-Lewin was handed his first international call-up in October after an impressive start to the season at Everton, and scored a goal on his debut to secure England a 3-0 friendly win over Wales.

The striker achieved a clever head finish after Grealish trimmed him perfectly, which left a huge impression on him during the Three Lions camp.

What was said?

Asked who stood out the most during his first experience with the England team, Calvert-Lewin did not hesitate in choosing the Aston Villa star as he said Sky Sports Super Six podcast: “My favorite player was Jack Grealish; top man!

“He’s a naturally gifted footballer and it’s a pleasure to watch. If I could watch any player play, it would be him. He can do anything – he’s exciting and he’s trying to make things happen.

“I see him up close in training – because he is a relaxed guy, as soon as he is on the training ground and when the ball comes out, he acts on another level.

“To play with him as a center forward, these are the guys you want to play with because he makes things and he set me a debut goal.

“It was just a matter of time before he got his chance. He just had to stay consistent and keep doing what he was doing. When he played, I thought he played really well.”

How did Grealish perform for Villa this season?

Grealish inspired Fairy’s successful bid to survive in the Premier League in 2020-21, and raised his game to even greater heights this season under Dean Smith.

The 25-year-old has contributed in 23 games to date with seven goals and 12 assists, helping them become surprising candidates for qualifying for the Europa League.

His performances have attracted the attention of a number of top clubs, including Manchester City and Manchester United, but his progress has been limited by injury last month.

Did Grealish and Calvert-Lewin make the latest team in England?

Grealish had just started training again after missing a month of action due to a shin problem, and Gareth Southgate eventually decided not to risk him for England’s first set in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Calvert-Lewin, however, was placed in Southgate’s final shortlist, along with the Toffees who lined up to play during the Group I opening against San Marino on Thursday.

The 24-year-old will also be available for selection against Albania and Poland before returning to Goodison Park in early April.
