The president, Major General Muhammad Bukhari (withdrawn), says he is currently on a “short break” in London in the UK.
According to a statement by his senior special assistant for media and publicity, Garbe Shehua, the president revealed this on Thursday in a letter he wrote to the King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, King Abdullah ll Bin Al-Hussein, following a recent rift in the royal family.
The statement was titled: “President Bukhari writes to King Abdullah of Jordan, conveying good wishes and solidarity.”
Recall that the presidency has previously issued a statement that Bukhari will undergo what he called a routine medical examination in London.
In a statement Thursday, Shehu quoted Bukhari as saying he felt very upset when he heard reports of a problem in the royal family, but felt calm when he learned that everything had been resolved peacefully.
The presidential aide quoted Bukhari’s letter as follows: “While I was resting here in London for a short time, I was deeply disturbed when I read from international news agencies attempts to destabilize the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
“Your exemplary leadership since ascending the throne has aroused admiration around the world.
“Relations between Nigeria and Jordan have been excellent and I thank you for the role you have played in this regard.
“Your Majesty, I am very glad that things are now settled and I pray that the Hashemite Kingdom remains not only peaceful, but also the chief beacon of hope in the region under the wise guidance of Your Majesty.”
