The House of Representatives in plenary session on Tuesday confirmed the appointments of heads of new services nominated by President Muhammad Bukhari.
Confirmation followed the unanimous adoption of a report submitted by the chairman of the Verification Committee established by the Nomination Verification House.
On January 26, 2021, Bukhari listened to the calls of the parliament and Nigerians to replace the previous heads of services.
After that, he wrote to both houses of the National Assembly to confirm the candidates.
Nominated are Major General Lucky Irabor, Chief of Defense Staff; Major General I. Attahiru, Chief of Staff of the Army; Rear Admiral AZ Gambo, Chief of Naval Staff; and Vice President of Aviation IO Amao, Chief of Air Staff.
They replace the former Chief of Defense, General Abayomi Olonisakin; Chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ekwe Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.
Chairman of the board, Hon. Babajimi Benson, who gave the report, said MPs had thoroughly reviewed the nominees.
