After unpacking Google’s Nest Mini or Max, find a good location to use it most, like the kitchen or living room. Plug your device into a nearby outlet, connect your smartphone or tablet to a Wi-Fi network, and download the Google Home app. Now sign in to your Google Account or create a new account; make sure your iOS or Android device is working with a Wi-Fi network and Bluetooth is turned on. After logging in to your account, tap the plus sign icon in the upper left corner of the app and select “Set up device.”

First steps and troubleshooting

From there, the Google Home app will scan the new device, once found, tap the device name and tap next. If the setting was successful, Nest Mini or Max will play a sound. If it happens, click that in the app and then select a device location, which helps maintain multiple devices. Your home network should now appear in the app. Select it and tap Next. Finally, turn on Voice Match so Google Assistant can recognize voices and differentiate other users. It briefly describes how to make the most of the Nest Mini or Max and will show you how to mute the microphone, how to adjust the volume, and how to tap the top to play or pause.

If the speaker does not appear in the application, restart the speaker by turning it off for 10 seconds, and then turning it on again. Users can also restart the home app if the speaker does not appear in the app. This is accomplished by closing the Home app by dragging up from the bottom, holding, then releasing, and dragging up on the app. If the application freezes during the setup process or otherwise does not finish, restart the smart speaker by turning it off, wait 10 seconds, and plug it in again. This will allow users to restart the setup process.

After completing the setup process, Nest Mini or Max is ready for use. The settings can be changed at any time after the setting is completed. Users can now play music, listen to podcasts or even make phone calls. Google Now can help you remember things, cook, stay in touch with others, and act as a TV remote control. Setting up a Nest Mini or Max is the first step in penetrating the world of smart homes.
