Google adds 4K and downloads to YouTube TV, improving YouTube Kids

You will soon be able to download YouTube TV episodes and watch shows in 4K. And parents will be able to add trusted YouTube videos to the Kids app.

Google has announced a new plugin option for YouTube TV that “allows viewers to watch available shows in 4K or download them to their DVR for later offline viewing.” This option will also allow you to watch unlimited simultaneous broadcasts “at home”. Currently, the maximum number of streams is three, but if you find that you are maximizing your flows, this could be a useful improvement.

The company says it will add new parenting tools, including “a highly sought-after option that allows parents to add certain videos and channels from the main YouTube platform to selecting their children to watch on YouTube Kids.” Google introduced a similar feature in YouTube Kids in 2018 but this is the first time that YouTube videos have been allowed on children.

A Google spokesman told CNET that the company could not yet confirm prices or a time frame or when the new features would become available.
