‘Glee’ honors Nay Rivera at GLAAD Media Awards, Entertainment News

Former ‘Glee’ actress Naya Rivera died a sudden death last year, and now the cast is paying tribute to her who played a revolutionary role in the show. Her character named Santana Lopez came out of the closet as a lesbian who was praised as a revolutionary role model for LGBTQ teenagers and LGBTQ Latinx teenagers.

To honor the milestone and pay tribute to the deceased actress, 16 members of the “Glee” team gathered almost as part of the GLAAD Media Awards. The organization was a champion on the hit show, honoring it as an outstanding comedy series twice in back ceremonies, in 2010 and 2011. Naya Rivera also hosted the show twice.

At this year’s GLAAD Media Awards, a special segment was opened by Demi Lovato who said, “I will always appreciate the chance I have to play Nay’s girlfriend, Dani, on Glee.” Demi Lovato recently spoke about her sexuality becoming “pansexual”.

At the award ceremony, Demi Lovato presented the cast, which included Jacob Artist, Chris Colfer, Darren Criss, Jessalyn Gilsig, Dot-Marie Jones, Vanessa Lengies, Jane Lynch, Kevin McHale, Heather Morris, Matthew Morrison, Alex Newell, Lauren Potter , Amber Riley, Harry Shum Jr., Becca Tobin and Jenna Ushkowitz.
