BERLIN (Reuters) – The German Vaccine Commission on Thursday adhered to its recommendation that people under the age of 60 who received a single injection of AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine should receive the mRNA vaccine as a second dose.

The commission, known as STIKO, said the second dose should be administered twelve weeks after the shooting at AstraZenec.

Two mRNA vaccines, one from Pfizer / BioNTech and one from Moderna, are currently approved for use in Germany.
