Former military administrator Akwa Ibom Idongesit Nkanga dies of COVID-19 – TV Channels

Forum President Pan Niger Delta (PANDEF) and former military administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga, is dead.

A family source confirmed that Channels Television on Friday in Uyou, the state capital.

He discovered that Nkanga died at the age of 68 from complications associated with COVID-19 on Christmas Eve.

Nkanga was the military governor of Akwa Ibom from September 1990 to January 1992, during the regime of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida.

He retired as an Air Force Commodore in the Nigerian Air Force.

As chairman of PANDEF, Nkanga was vocal in the campaign to restructure Nigeria and develop the Delta Niger region in the country.

In May 2001, he became a board member of the Cooperative Development Bank before running in the 2003 general elections as a candidate for governor of the defunct Nigerian Democratic Party (NDP).

Nkanga was later appointed Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Airport Implementation Committee in 2007 and became a member of the South-South Elders and Leaders Forum in January 2010.

He was also appointed General Director for Campaign Organization of former Governor Godsville Akpabio in 2011, as well as General Director for Campaign Organization of Governor Udom Emmanuel in 2015 and 2019.
