Five victims abducted on Tuesday in the state of Edo returned to freedom after their relatives paid various sums as ransom.

It was collected that the kidnappers put N5m ransom on each victim, but their family members were allowed to negotiate and beat the ransom.

Our correspondent gathered that the victims paid between 800,000 N3m.

A source familiar with the case confirmed that five people were released after payment.

“It was a terrible experience for the victims and their families who worked hard to raise money.

“The victims, who are still there, may be released soon because their families are also working hard to raise money to enable their people to regain their freedom,” he added.
