Fireplace logs for video games: enjoy the fires inspired by Hades and Pokemon

For those of us who live in homes without a fireplace, the next best thing is sitting around the hearth of a long-running video on Netflix or YouTube. Fortunately, game developer Supergiant Games has created an all-day yule diary based on his hit game Had – which is a coincidence that Polygon was chosen for the match of the year 2020.

You can enjoy Supergiant’s House of Hades yule log – in 4K no less and no more! – directly from YouTube. It offers 12 hours of continuous crackling of animated fire complemented by pomegranate wreaths and golden skulls. The ambient sounds of the underworld really help to adjust the mood.

It’s a nice rhythm change from the Fireplace for Your Home series available on Netflix – I’m a guy from Birchwood Edition, and a wonderful ambiance if you play Had in manual mode on your switch.

If you’re looking for something warm and infused with Pokemon, there’s also Charmander’s Fireside Slumber. Pokémon released an ASMR video earlier this year, allowing viewers to enjoy the soothing sounds of a campfire and Charmander’s inextinguishable tail. (Although Charmander’s Fireside Slumber sounds more like spreading a forest fire than a cold fireplace, which I find less relaxing.)
