The actress will play a nurse at a New Orleans hospital in the movie “Five Days at Memorial.”
The limited series by John Ridley and Carlton Cuse about Hurricane Katrina adds its own team.
Adepero Oduye (COM)Falcon and winter soldier) joined Vera Farmiga Five days at the memorial, a drama about how the aftermath of a deadly hurricane in 2005 took place at a hospital in New Orleans. It is based on an unannounced book by Pulitzer Prize winner Sheri Fink.
John Ridley (COM)12 years a slave, an American crime) and Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) adapt a book that follows five days after Hurricane Katrina landed. Amid rising flood waters, heat suffocation and power outages, exhausted caregivers at the hospital were forced to make life and death decisions that would haunt them for years to come.
Oduye will play Karen Wynn, the nurse of the intensive care unit manager at Memorial Hospital and the head of its ethics committee.
The project will bring together Ridley and Oduye, who have appeared in 12 years slave. The actress earned Spirit Award and NAACP Image Award nominations for her role in the 2011 film Dee Rees. Five days at the memorial produces ABC Signature, where Ridley and Cuse are in complete business. They executive produce and will direct the episodes. Author Fink is a producer.
