Eminem recorded the song to the beat of Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’ before recording the last song, producer Benny Blanco revealed.
Blanco led the 2012 hit, which was co-written by Norwegian production / songwriting duo Stargate. He appears on RiRi’s seventh album, ‘Unapologetic’.
Speaking in a new video interview for Apple Music, Blanco referred to the beginning of the song. “First we wanted it to be a song by Kanye or Lane Del Rey, I remember,” he explained.
“We listen to it a few days later, and Stargate says,‘ Yo, we’re giving this song to Rihanna. That will work ‘. And I was like, ‘I don’t know, man. To keep the pace for Kanye? I don’t know about that ‘. ”
Blanco recalled a lecture on a CD containing the rhythm of ‘Diamonds’ to Def Jam Recordings CEO Paul Rosenberg with instructions to pass it on to Marshall Mathers.
“And apparently Eminem wrote a song about it, too,” he said. “And I didn’t even know. And I’m sitting there … Man. So when that happened, Paul said, “Man, Em had that rhythm on hold.” I said, ‘What? I didn’t even know ‘. ”
Elsewhere in the chat, Blanco talked about his experience working with Finneas on Justin Bieber’s 2020 song “Lonely”. You can watch the complete conversation above.
Last night (March 24), Rihanna teased that she would release new music soon. Her latest studio album ‘Anti’ was released in 2016.
Meanwhile, Eminem’s greatest hits album ‘Curtain Call’ is reported to have spent a record full decade on the Billboard 200. Released in 2005, the collection is now the sixth longest-running all-night American chart.
