DISCOVERED: Identity of ISWAP suicide bomber who killed “Many Nigerian soldiers”

Teenager Abdullah al-Ansari has been identified as a suicide bomber who planted an explosive-laden pickup truck in a military convoy during the conflict in the state of Yobe.

SaharaReporters reported that a jihadist fighter from the Islami2c faction of the West African Province (ISWAP) targeted a convoy in Goniri, the border community between the states of Yobe and Borno, killing many soldiers.

The rebels also involved Nigerian troops in the armed struggle.

ISWAP, which split from regular Boko Haram in 2016, has become a dominant group, focusing on military targets and high-profile attacks, including aid workers.

The Nigerian military has repeatedly claimed that the rebellion has been largely defeated and often lubricates all losses.

The terrorist group caused over 40,000 deaths and displaced millions of people mostly in the states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.
