Christian Pulisic took to social media to consider Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over FC Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The 22-year-old came in from the bench in the 65th minute on Wednesday night in Seville when goals from Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell steered Chelsea to a 2-0 victory in the first leg at the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan.
Chelsea are halfway to the semi-finals after two precious away goals ahead of their return to Sevilla next Tuesday for the return leg.
But Pulisic knows that the job is not finished, but it reflected on a positive night for the Blues.
Going to Instagram, he wrote, “Great start, it doesn’t stop here.”
Pulisic was close to getting on the record, but his effort failed on the wooden, which would have placed the Blues 2-0, but Chilwell added the most important second in the final stage.
Tuchel was pleased with the influence of Pulisic and other substitutes.
“I am happy for the impact of our substitutions,” he told reporters after the game.
“It’s important that we have this connection between the players and the influence from the bench. We are overjoyed. The job is half done and we are aware that we need another top performance on Tuesday.”
He added: “It took us a bit of luck to escape with 2-0 and a clean sheet. After losing a strange game on Saturday, we said today that the best situation would be to have a clean net right away. That’s what makes it very valuable this result.
“In the end we had a lot of possession, we avoided the pressure very well, the substitutions were of great help to us today. So the first answer after our first defeat, I am very pleased with the result.”
