Chelsea provided a big boost in fitness while Jorginho’s agent issued an ultimatum in the contract

Chelsea have been given reinforcement in condition with a knee injury suffered by Jorginho, which the midfielder’s agent described as a “not serious problem”.

Jorginho, football.london Understandably, he knocked during the Blues ’draw with Leeds United and would have been excluded from the Champions League match with Atletico Madrid had he not already been suspended.

The 29-year-old did not train with Chelsea’s first-team team ahead of their FA Cup quarter-final clash with Sheffield United and was not selected to the 38-man Italy team for World Cup qualifiers.

“As far as midfielders are concerned, we really have a little bit of difficulty at center,” Azzurri boss Roberto Mancini told a news conference Monday.

“We miss Jorginho, who was not well. He knocked himself to his knee and wasn’t capable of playing in these games so we didn’t risk him. “

Jorginho stayed in England and is recovering in Cobham, along with Tammy Abraham and Thiago Silva, during an international break.

And his agent Joao Santos told Radio Marta (via CalcioMercato.com) that Jorginha should not be excluded in the long run.

“It’s not a serious problem (knee), he has to do physiotherapy,” he said.

Jorginho’s future at Chelsea was the subject of speculation last summer.

The Italian international lost his place in the starting XI during the Blues ’Project Restart and a potential move to Arsenal was envisioned but never realized.

The former Napoli star started the current campaign under the leadership of Frank Lampard, but was once again on the periphery of the team when the club’s legend was replaced in January.

Jorginho quickly established himself once again as a key player under Thomas Tuchel. The midfielder has played in all Premier League matches except under the supervision of a German coach, and was in the first game of the round of 16 of Chelsea’s Champions League against Atletico.

And Santos believes Jorginho has wrongly proven in recent weeks those who doubt his ability to thrive in English football.

“Everyone is wrong in this claim,” he said. “In the Premier League, a faster and physically more connected line, he plays in twos, while in the national team he plays in threes. He is an intelligent player, he knows how to play football.”

The summer transition period is just around the corner.

And the rumor mill is already starting to accelerate.

New Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel will certainly be looking to bolster the squad he got when he took over Frank Lampard, and there have already been several top players associated with the move, including Erling Haland.

The striker is considered to be the number of blues who have priority in the transfer.

Jorginho’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs until the summer of 2023 and there has still been no talk of extending his deal.

Santos insists that he and the Chelsea star are relaxed about the situation and that a return to Serie A remains a special possibility.

“The Chelsea midfield has players of great value,” he said. “If Chelsea does not recover, we will try to return to Italy.”
