Some as yet unidentified gunmen attacked the residence of Eris Paul, a former former militant leader also known as Ogunbos, at his country house in the Peremabiri community of South Ijaw, a local government of the state of Bayels, setting fire to his villa.
According to reports, the attack happened in the early hours of Friday, on Christmas. Armed men were found to have stormed the community in speedboats, firing indiscriminately before setting fire to the buildings.
It was learned that Paul could have escaped injured or killed, albeit narrowly.
A family source said Paul (Ogunbos) was attending a funeral in the community when the incident occurred.
“He is still in the community, he is doing well. It’s just that some properties have been destroyed, “said the source.
SaharaReporters gathered that along with Paul’s home, valuables worth millions of naira were burned.
Confirming the incident, Butswat Ansimi, a public relations officer at the State Command, told SaharaReporters that although normalization had been restored, several assets were damaged and lives were not lost.
