Bandits kill two senior police officers, one wounded in Jigawa

Two Divisional Crime Officers (DCO) I and II were killed and another wounded in an armed battle with a group of bandits in the village of Kalgo in the local government of Garki in Jigawa State.

The incident happened on Friday afternoon shortly after the release of two people abducted by bandits in the village of Bosuwa earlier this week.

A father’s witness, Inuwa Kalgo, told Vanguard that a combined team of security operatives arrived in their patrol vehicles before heading to a nearby bush to find the criminals ’hideout.

He added that the bandits ambushed the police, and in the exchange of fire, two senior police officers were currently killed and one wounded.

The two commissioner officers killed worked with the headquarters of the Maigatari department, where they were informed of the incident and quickly went to the scene, but they met with a premature death.

Another police officer who was injured is currently being treated at Gumel General Hospital.

When contacted, PPRO Jigawa State Command, SP Abdu Jinjiri confirmed the incident.

However, he explained that all the details have yet to be obtained. “I’m still waiting for details about the unfortunate incident, but I’ll get back to you as soon as I get it.” He noticed.
