CANBERRA (Reuters) – Australia will buy another 20 million doses of Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said on Friday.
Australia said on Thursday that it now recommends people under the age of 50 to be vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine in favor of that produced by AstraZeneca, citing rare blood clots.
Australia bought 20 million doses of Pfizer vaccine last year. However, as it needs additional supplies after the updated tips, Morrison said Canberra will double that order, and the latest batch will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021.
