Arsenal goalkeeper Mat Ryan apologized to Brighton after comments on the transfer

Arsenal goalkeeper Mat Ryan has apologized to Brighton fans after comments he made regarding his January move to north London.

The Gunners have signed the Australian international on loan from the Seagulls until the end of the season, but comments from the 28-year-old seem to suggest he has no plans to return to Brighton.

Ryan made his debut for Arsenal in the last 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa, and Bernd Leno was suspended and became the second choice in the ranks of Mikel Arteta.

However, Ryan, who spent four years at Amex Stadium after moving to the Premier League from Valencia, made comments that did not sit well with Brighton fans.

“I had a bit of a plan in mind that I want to play a few seasons at Brighton and work hard and do well and I hope the bigger club will buy me and continue to advance in my career,” he told Optus Sport.

“Maybe it didn’t work out in a way that they play for two or three seasons, and then buy for a fee. No.1 and going and playing. But one way or another I obviously ended up taking a massive step from Brighton to another level of football. “

After the reaction of Brighton fans, who accused the stopper of disrespect, Ryan gave an apology on social media.

After TalkSeagulls posted a clip of the interview on its Instagram page, Ryan commented below: “Hey, buddy, I noticed that there were a few people who were upset / disappointed by some of the comments I made in this interview and I want to apologize to anyone who felt I disrespected the club, this was not and never will be my intention.

“I recognize how people could interpret that through those comments and moving forward I will be sure to pay extra attention to how I treat the club that doesn’t have the same outcome.

“The club will always have a special place in my heart like I said, and I have nothing but fond memories and I wish you all the best until the end of the season and I will always continue to support the club because of our shared experiences.”
