Hours after the abduction of Greenfield University students in Kaduna State, gunmen abducted two nurses working overnight at Idon General Hospital in the local government of Cairo on Thursday.

While confirming the incident, the chairman of the Kaiuru local government area, Hon. Casino Cafra has urged people to stay calm as an investigation into the abduction of two nurses has begun.

Although authorities have not yet responded to the incident, dr. Shingyu Shamnom, the hospital’s medical director, told reporters that armed men carrying dangerous weapons approached the hospital through a fence.

According to dr. Shamnomu, armed men were forcibly entered the hospital, shot sporadically and taken away by two night-duty nurses who came out and identified themselves as medical workers.

He explained that after hearing the shots they had to stay in their various houses. “We were in their homes until we received a call that the kidnappers had attacked the hospital, to find out that two nurses had been taken away by bandits on night duty.

“The kidnappers left with the phone of one of the staff we thought was also abducted, but he returned later,” he said.
