The national leadership of the ruling Congress of All Progressives of the APC has rejected the alleged suspension of Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi, Senators Andrew Uchendu and Victor Giadom by a faction led by Hon. Igo Aguma.
Dare Oketade, the head of the legal service of the National Secretariat of the APC, stated the party’s position in a letter dated December 23 and sent to Hon. Aguma.
The letter reads; “Attention was drawn to the alleged suspension of Rt through social and print media. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, Senator Andrew Uchendu, and the alleged expulsion of Chief Hon. Victor Giadom, that is, as members of the Party in the state of Rijeka by some so-called heads of departments of the Party.
“We checked our records at the National Secretariat and found that these individuals were not Rivers State officials. Therefore, I was instructed by the National Chairman, His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, to inform you, so that there would be no doubt, that the Congressional Rivers Commission of all progressives is headed by Hon. Isaac Abbot Ogbobula was sworn in at the National Secretariat of the Party on December 11, 2020, based on the directives of the National Executive Committee adopted at its meeting on December 8, 2020, held in the councils of Aso Rock Villa, Abuja.
“Accordingly, I would like to draw the attention of you and other party members in Rivers State to the consequences of misrepresenting both our party’s constitution and Nigerian law.
“It is therefore in the interest of the general public and our members in the State of Rivers to instruct me further to inform you that all department heads have allegedly taken all actions unknown to the Party National Headquarters, and you on behalf of the Congress of All Progressives are null and void. .
“From now on, the Party will not tolerate any act that is calculated to belittle the Party leader or to make the Party ridicule for any reason.
“May we also inform you that the Party has established a Reconciliation Committee headed by Chief John Odigie Oyegun to begin the reconciliation of members in the South-South region of our Party. Therefore, we invite you and other injured members to contact this committee to check your complaints, if any.
“The Party will not hesitate to take the necessary disciplinary measures if any member of the Party in the state of Rijeka continues to take steps to represent the recognized State Transitional Committee headed by Hon. Isaac Abbot Ogbobula or any of his local government or department heads ”.
