Biafra’s indigenous population, IPOB, accused the federal government led by Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday of repeatedly trying to ransom its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
IPOB propaganda secretary Emma Powerful said the federal government had tried to force Kanu to leave agitation for Biafra.
The powerful claimed that the Federal Government made some “irresistible offers”, but that Kanu rejected it.
An IPOB spokesman responded to Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu’s claim that agitators in the southeast would be broken.
According to the statement: “The attention of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of our great and indomitable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, was attracted by the disgusting, derogatory, irresponsible and extremely provocative remarks of the Presidency through Garba Shehu that renewed agitation for self-determination because the federal government refused to distribute the money to those behind the agitation. Shehu went further in his viturations and threatened military action to crush those he called “animals disturbing the peace in the southeast.”
“Therefore, we challenge Sheh to mention those who were paid by the federal government in the southeast to give up agitation due to self-determination. If it fails to reveal the identities of the beneficiaries and evidence of such payments, we will consider it one of the shameless lies that have become a trademark of the Fulani-controlled federal government led by Muhammadu Buhari.
“Not to mention other proponents of self-determination, we know that the federal government of Nigeria has made frantic but fruitless efforts to force the IPOB leadership to give up the search for the renewal of Biafran.
“The federal government has tried several times, but without success, to buy out our leader Mazi Nnamdi Khan, giving him some irresistible offers. But if Efulefus paraded as the leader of Igba who accepted their offer, we can convince them that such Efulefus cannot penetrate IPOB. IPOB is not, never has been and will never be interested in the crumbs of the federal government of Nigeria.
“We also want to remind the Fulani presidency that only a certified and unscrupulous moron will ever equate money with the motive of growing agitation for self-determination across Nigeria. If money is what we want, we know what to do to get more money. How many times in the past has our leader turned down your financial incentives?
“If you know those people who asked the late Bukhari, Jubril al-Sudani or Yusuf Abubakar Mohammad for money, please publish their names. As a nation, the Biafrans are enterprising and we don’t think we lag behind any region in terms of wealth and economic security, despite the repressive policies of this 97 percent versus 5 percent government directed against our hardworking famous sons and daughters and Fulani Janjaweed’s monopolistic tendencies.
“Our goal for Biafra agitation is freedom! We have had enough of sharing geographical space with terrorists. We are tired of government officials ruling over dinner and blaming terrorists, but brutally abusing and killing freedom fighters. We are tired of the government paying a ransom for the gangs, releasing terrorists but imprisoning unarmed protesters. We are tired of a repressive government that promotes nepotism and injustice. “
