Over 1500 prisoners they were allegedly acquitted in attacks allegedly carried out by members of the indigenous population of Biafra (IPOB).

Nada Uzodinma, the governor of Imo, described the development as an attack on “the integrity of the government”.

Uzodinma asked the police to defend themselves “if you can’t attack them”.

“Every attack on a police formation insults us as a government. We have to take responsibility, take control and ensure discipline, ” he said.

“We must not approve of criminal attacks on the government. The police must not be compromised so that the integrity of the government remains intact.

“This unfortunate tragedy can only be condemned by any reasonable mind, the intention was to instill fear in our people and make them vulnerable.”
