Cruella has acquired a new trailer, and it has more than seven weeks left until its release date on May 28th. On Wednesday, Disney unveiled the second trailer for a story about the origins of the cult villain from 101 Dalmatians, hosted by Emma Stone, partly set to Doris Day’s song “Maybe, Maybe, Maybe”. In it, fashion baroness von Hellman (Emma Thompson) tells ambitious designer Estella de Vil (Stone) that she doesn’t care about anyone else because there are only obstacles in her way. “You have talent. The big question is whether you have a killer instinct “, adds the baroness. But Estella is fired at work by the baroness, and she shows up at a party to make a scene, lighting her dress and getting into some fists – in heels, as she points out. He then introduces himself as Cruella.
The rest Cruella the trailer represents the plot of a Disney film, in which he recruits some thieves and fraudsters – including Artie (John McCrea), Horace Badun (Paul Walter Hauser) and Jasper Badun (Joel Fry) – to create additional problems for the baroness, including the theft of her precious Dalmatians and liberal tuning of high fashion dresses. Estella’s friend Anita (Kirby Howell-Baptiste) tells her she has a slightly extreme side to which she responds with an accent: “Yes darling, and what a party it is.” It is also hinted that the Baroness is unaware of Estellla’s alter ego Cruelle, given the late change they had in Cruella trailer.
In addition to Stone, Thompson, McCrea, Hauser, Fry, and Howell-Baptiste, Cruella also starring Mark Strong (Kingsman: Secret Service) as Baroness, Maid Boris, Emily Beecham (Hello, Caesar!) as Catherine, Jamie DemetriouFleabag, Stath Lets Flats) as Gerald and Haruka Abe (Kiss Me First) as Liberty. Behind the scenes, Craig Gillespie (I Tonya) directs Cruella from screenplays by Dan Fox and Tony McNamara. Andrew Gunn (Freaky Friday), Marc Platt (Mary Poppins Returns) and Kristin BurrChristopher Robin) are the producers, and Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff, Glenn Close and Stone as the executive producers.
Here is the official synopsis for Cruella from Disney:
Oscar winner Emma Stone stars in Disney’s Cruella, a brand new feature film about the rebellious early days of one of the most infamous – and notoriously modern – villains, the legendary Cruelle de Vil. Cruella, whose store is set in London in the 1970s amid the punk rock revolution, follows young fraudster Estella, a smart and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her design. She befriended a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life on the streets of London. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and frighteningly relaxed, played by double Oscar winner Emma Thompson. But their relationship triggers a flow of events and discoveries that will make Estella accept her wicked side and become a rugged, fashionable and vengeful Cruella.
Cruella hits May 28 in theaters around the world – including India – and on Disney + with Premier Access in select markets. The premiere is expected to be on August 27 on Disney + Hotstar, according to earlier estimates for Mulan and Ray and the last dragon.
