Ahead of the 2023 general election, a support group within the ruling Congress of All APC Progressives has asked Governor Yahay Bello of Kogi to give up his presidential ambition and support calls for the party’s national presidency to be zoned into the North Central geopolitical zone.

At a press conference held Thursday at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, the ‘North-Central Council of the APC’, headed by its co-ordinator, Dr. parties, saying that after the end of the mandate of the APC committee, they will need “a dedicated, energetic, dynamic and experienced party man who will lead the party’s affairs”.

According to him, “The North Central Council is equally addressing the Governor of the State of Kogi, H.E. Yahaji
Bello will reconsider his presidential ambition in 2023, because in the spirit of one Nigeria, it will be fair to allow the southern part of the country to produce the next president to come in 2023.

“We firmly believe that handing over the presidential card of our APC party to the southern part of the country would strengthen justice and political justice. We believe that the governor of the state of Kogi is a true democrat who believes in one Nigeria.

“Therefore, we appeal to N.E. Yahaya Belloa to give up his presidential ambition and join us in the campaign to ensure that North Central produces the next national chairman of the APC, ”the council added.

He also appealed to President Muhammad Bukhari and all APC governors and other key party stakeholders to continue to support APC Mai Mala Buni to succeed in his task of repositioning the party for future elections.

“However, as the party prepares for a convention that will introduce democratically elected national executive powers, we North Central Council appeal to its leader, President Muhammad Bukhari and APC governors, as well as key party stakeholders across the country to consider North Central for a seat. the national chairman of the party.

“The reasons for this concern stem from the fact that the Northwest, as currently constituted, has a sitting president who still has two years to complete his eight-year term.

“The Northeast currently occupies the position of Senate President, and the only geopolitical zone in the north left is the North Center, and for the sake of fairness and equity, the National Presidency of the party should be directed towards the North Central,” the group added.
